1968Converted into a state college by virtue of RA 5270, called the Pablo Borbon Memorial Institute of Technology, the 23rd state college in the Philippines.

1984Expanded operations in its first extension campus in Alangilan, Batangas City.
1987Started offering basic education through a special science class in the laboratory school.
2001Converted into a state university by virtue of RA 9045, called the Batangas State University.

2016Established research and development centers; shifted the academic calendar with the first semester opening in August.
2017Recognized as Center of Excellence in Electronics Engineering and Center of Development in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Teacher Education and Development Communication; classified as a Level IV state university; received international accreditation of engineering and IT programs.
2018Received ISO 9001:2015 certification; recognized as a Regional Center for Disaster Risk Management Education and Research.
2019Launched the new vision towards becoming a premier national university.
2020Received presidential proclamation of the BatStateU Knowledge, Innovation and Science Technology (KIST) Park as a Special Economic Zone; awarded three stars by the QS Stars rating; approved the offering of 27 emerging programs in engineering and allied fields.
2021BatStateU bolstered its international partnerships and linkages highlighting formalized cooperation with the Embassy of India through the BatStateU KIST Park.
2022By virtue of Republic Act No. 11694, Batangas State University became the first and only National Engineering University in the Philippines.
2023Inaugurated the tallest academic structure in the region, the 10-storey Emilio Aguinaldo Building at the Pablo Borbon campus; ranked 300th in the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings out of 1,183 universities worldwide; launched 16 microcredential courses at the first GUILD Summit; celebrated BatStateU’s 120th Founding Anniversary and first year as the Philippines’ National Engineering University.
2024Ranked 128th in the 2024 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI); positioned between 601st and 800th in 2024 THE Impact Rankings among 2,152 universities; awarded by the DTI the 2024 Presidential Recognition for Outstanding Development Partners under the Access to Technology and Innovation category for its pioneering Knowledge, Innovation, and Science Technology (KIST) Park; launched the National Engineering Education Development (NEED) Program to redefine engineering education in the Philippines.
